Welcome to Roman Roams The World: Hello From My First Bloody Blog Post!

Here Goes Nothing…

My first post! This is quite exciting isn’t it? Well, it definitely is for me! I’m feeling all the “what if nobody reads this…” feels right now, but you can only try, right? And if you are reading this – yippee! You’ve officially made my day 💛 so… how are you?!!

Building This Blog: A Personal Victory!

I’m absolutely thrilled to launch this space dedicated to family travel with young children, and I want to celebrate this small (but significant!!!) win with you. I’m pretty proud to say I’ve just built this website all on my own – woohoo! 🙌 There were definitely moments I wanted to throw my laptop out the window… but it feels like a tiny personal victory and the start of something exciting. Hopefully, in a year’s time, there’ll be more than just me reading these posts 😂 (Hello future readers! 👋)

Why I Started This Family Travel Blog

Let me guess – you’re dreaming of actually enjoying a holiday with your kid(s) instead of just white-knuckling your way through it?

Same, hun. Same.

This blog is here to make your family holidays a bit less chaotic – or at the very least, my disasters might make you feel slightly less alone! 😂 Expect family travel tales, brutally honest reflections, and actual useful tips from someone who’s currently living in the trenches of toddler parenting. I want this to be real and relatable – because travelling with kids is rarely picture-perfect, but bloody hell, it’s always worth it.

Why Family Travel Matters: Filling Your Cup

Lately I’ve been thinking about how much energy I pour into making sure my 1 year-old Roman is thriving – helping him learn, grow, all that jazz. But what about me? What about us – the mums, the parents, the ones who sometimes feel like we’re just about holding it together with frayed elastic bands and lukewarm coffee?

Maybe it’s time we stopped feeling guilty about caring for ourselves too?

This blog is a little corner for exactly that. For me, and hopefully for you – whether you’re a fellow mum, a dad, or just someone who fancies an adventure without losing their mind.

There’s something about swapping your same four walls for a hotel balcony or a spot under a palm tree that just resets everything. It’s not just about “showing your baby the world” (though that’s lovely too). It’s about reminding yourself that you still exist outside of nappies, endless washing up, and Blippi on repeat. Those little getaways – whether it’s a weekend at the Lake District or a big trip abroad – fill my cup in a way nothing else can. Plus, Roman’s learning that the world is massive, gorgeous, and full of stuff to explore.

So here’s to new beginnings, food and knives being launched across restaurant floors, zero sleep on flights, judgy passengers tutting at us, and of course – unforgettable memories that make it all worthwhile.

If you haven’t already, please do subscribe! You’ll get all my latest family travel tips, stories, the best places for travelling with little ones, and a healthy dose of mum-life realness landing straight in your inbox.
